I am excited to be the dyslexia therapist at Bertram Elementary. This is my 20th year in education and is my 17th year working with dyslexic students. I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) as well as a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT).
I work hard to help my students crack the reading code and gain confidence in their reading ability. I want each student to be successful and develop a love of reading.
I teach Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. This program contains the five components of effective reading instruction supported by the National Reading Panel. These five components are: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. My classes meet daily for 45 minutes and work hard on these five components.
Your child will have homework from my class Monday through Thursday. This usually consist of reading words or sentences. Reading at home is important because it allows your child to apply the skills we are learning in class.
Parent/teacher communication is very important to me so please let me know if you have any questions. Email is the best way to contact me. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
and my phone number is 512-355-2111. My conference time is 2:30-3:15.
