I am excited you will be in my first-grade class this year! We will learn many new and exciting things during the school year. Thank you for allowing me to join you and your child as we take this journey through first grade!
I love being a teacher! I have a wonderful husband of 20 years, a 16-year-old son (Junior at Burnet HS), and a cute, black miniature Schnauzer named Ollie. We have lived in the Central Texas area since 2004 and have lived in Burnet for the last year. I’m not a Texas native but I got here as fast as I could!
I grew up in a small farm town in northern Iowa and lived there until I was 15 years old when my family moved to Arizona (to escape those cold Iowa winters)!
I have been a lifelong musician: pianist, percussionist, and vocalist, so after high school I attended Arizona State and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral/General music. After college, life took me down a different path than teaching and I spent 25 years+ in the customer service industry as a supervisor, manager, training manager, project, and account manager at four different companies in Arizona and Texas. But teaching was calling out to me, so I started substituting in the Leander & Georgetown ISDs for 2 years and then I became a 1st Grade Teacher at First Baptist Christian School in Marble Falls for the last 2 years. I LOVE teaching first grade and working with students who are excited to be in school! And I’m thrilled to be in school! And I’m thrilled to be working at Bertram Elementary this year!
